Start fastening vertical siding and corner posts in the top of the uppermost slots to hold them in position fig.
Measure and cut each exterior corner moulding piece.
These tips will help you to do a professional installation of your vinyl siding.
Then install the corner posts over the flashing.
If a nail slot does not allow centering securing into a nailable surface use a nail hole slot punch to extend the slot and allow centering of the fastener.
If a corner post is installed tight to the shingles and the j channel dead ends into it any water that runs down the j channel will back up at the post and may find its way into the house.
If vinyl soffit is to be installed allow proper distance below the underside of eaves for soffit installation accessories which vary according to the accessory used.
Ensure the mouldings are straight placing them 1 4 in.
Corner posts above the roofline are a notorious source of water infiltration.
Hold the corner post up a bit and run the j channel beneath it instead.
Place all other fasteners in the center of the slots.
The corner posts should run from 3 4 inch 1 9 cm below the bottom of the starter strip to just beneath the eaves after the soffit pieces have been installed.
Install the corner posts.
Inside corner posts are installed at the existing corners running from 3 4 in.
The corners of vinyl siding are one area where moisture can get in under the siding.
Install 1 2 inch 12 7 mm foam sheathing strips on both sides of each corner then install your corner siding pieces to these strips.
To prevent this put flashing about one foot on each side of the corner.
