The endless river by pink floyd album reviews metacritic score. The endless river doesn t rise to the level of dark side of the moon but there s some comfort in saying this as dark side of the moon was and is for me the greatest album of all time. As expected with all qrp vinyl my lps were flat perfectly centred and without defect. I m not alone but the album has the elements of what makes pink floyd special.

The endless river is essentially a tribute to the late rick wright keyboardist for the band and founding member. The record is largely instrumental and is divided into four distinct though unlabeled movements each occupying an album side. Often overlooked wright provided the band with all the amazing ethereal and sonic sounds throughout their career. The lyrics also refer to the sum and the parts see side one before the cascading arpeggiating synths from the start of the album return and we come pleasingly full circle.

The endless river is gilmour and drummer nick mason s generous farewell to wright who died in 2008 built from unissued music the three made together for 1994 s the division bell. This album is mostly what remains of rick wright and his atmospheric sound. I believe everyone should respect the endless river for these reasons instead of mourning endlessly for a band who gived us so much already. I m not alone but the album has the elements of what makes pink floyd special.

As well as the endless. The endless river is stately grandiose and searching but it is also bloated pompous and so conceptually top heavy it just might fall off the cd rack or crash your computer. Wright was a major key element to pink floyd s sound and success. However the success of the endless river as an album is evasive.
